(Stay tuned for the review!) Since then, I\u00e2\u20ac\u2122ve been slowly progressing through Power and Plenty: Trade, War and the World Economy in the Second Millennium, a crunchy academic history written by Ronald Findlay and Kevin H O\u00e2\u20ac\u2122Rourke, and quite enjoying it; however, I\u00e2\u20ac\u2122m still only about 2\/3rds of the way through.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>I have, however, been keeping up with my news sites. And so, when Bloomberg News introduced <a href=\"http:\/\/www.bloomberg.com\/view\/echoes\/\">Echoes, an economics history blog<\/a>, as part of its brand-new site revamp, I sat up and took notice. In its first few days of existence, Echoes has already touched on the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.bloomberg.com\/news\/2011-05-24\/arab-democracy-needs-more-than-markets.html\">potential parallels between oil-rich post-communist Russia and post-revolution Arab states<\/a>; <a href=\"http:\/\/www.bloomberg.com\/news\/2011-05-25\/can-flat-taxes-energize-arab-economies-.html\">flat taxes in Eastern Europe (then) and in the Middle East (possibly in the future)<\/a>; and on <a href=\"http:\/\/www.bloomberg.com\/news\/2011-05-26\/oil-religion-and-women-in-the-workforce.html\">a debate as to whether oil breeds a male-dominated labour force<\/a>.
